Being a member of the Deaconess Board gives one the chance to assist the Pastor in developing the spiritual life of the women and girls of the Church for the best possible Christian service. The board members corporate with the Pastor and the Board of Deacons in visiting the members; in the care of the sick, needy and distressed members of the Church.
Scripture: Romans 16:1-2; 1Timothy 3:11
"I commend to you our sister Phoebe, a deaconess of the Church at Cenchreae, that you may receive her in the Lord as befits the saints, and helper in whatever she may require from you, for she has been a helper of many and of myself as well", (Romans 16:1-2).
"The women likewise must be serious, no slanders, but temperate, faithful in all things" as stated in 1Timothy 3:11
Qualification Scripture: 1 Timothy 3:8-13
Duties
1. Responsible to assist the Deacons in the watch care of church members
2. Be regular in church attendance
3. Assist in communion as requested by Deacons
4. Assist the women who come for baptism and perform other duties for baptism as requested by the Deacons
5. Pair up with a Deacon to help provide special oversight and ministry to members on their list.
6. Attend monthly Deaconess meeting and other meetings when requested to do so by the Pastor or Chairman of the Deacon board.
7. Assist families at time of bereavement
